ADOPTED IN LOVE




We just got back from the Embassy and it was a piece of cake!! When they asked us to raise our right hand and repeat after me, which I wasn't aware we would be doing, it caught me off guard and I felt this lump build up in my throat....it just hit me....THIS IS IT, HE IS OFFICIALLY A DETHLOFF!!! Tomorrow Rick will go back to pick up his Visa and we can come home on Friday. Rick and Ben just went to the Mall just 2-3 blocks away to buy Isaac some pants that will fit. We aren't bothering with shoes until we get home.

Rick and Ben are deciding if they even want to go to Antigua. The lawyers and others have spoken of it being unsafe and how tourism is down because of it. Isaac can't go because until we get his Visa tomorrow they hold his passport, therefore we have no way to prove he is ours. I will take no chance and I am staying here......I have my souvenier...lol! Tomorrow, we want to spend the day at the hotel pool.

We got to speak with Eli and Jan this morning. He sounds so much older. Jan said he is such a big helper and is being a good boy. In fact, we thought he hung up on us this morning but Jan called back and said he just hit the speaker button so she could hear us....lol. When Rick and I hung up we looked up to see Ben crying. He is really missing Eli a lot and can't wait to see him again.

Yesterday we shopped at places locally and on our walk back to the hotel we saw Ben with his eye on an elderly woman on the street with a bowl. He dug in his pocket and walked over to her to leave her with a gift she was so gracious for...it was a God moment to see what it did through him. Everything about this experience, He has had His hand on it from the smallest detail to the largest.

I DIDN'T DO IT

All parents go through it; it's not like I'm the first. But when a day like today happens, it gives me a sense of desire to suspend time. Just long enough to grasp everything God wants me to learn in the moments He has given me. A BEST FRIEND

The house is quiet, the kids are sleeping in their beds and I sit here in the dark listening to the droning sound of the refrigerator motor humming. I found myself just sitting here unaware I was jumping in thought from my husbands expected arrival home any minute now, to "I wonder how many more weeks until the CCC college kids come home?". I thought about a friends recent surgery, Ben's guitar playing and how quickly he has picked it up, to Isaac's soon to be 2nd birthday. But I found myself resting....rather, visiting a friend in thought. We were sitting on our deck having a ice cold glass of tea. Her voice was as sincere and kind as it was sweet to listen to. It was fragile and shaky; letting me know there were years behind every word she spoke. Her laughter made known she was confident in who she was and that her life had been good. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICK

We celebrated Rick's 48th Birthday. The I and the boys got him a mug, a DVD (comedian), a shirt and framed pictures of themselves. We just can't say enough about Rick and how loved and important he is to me and the kids. I'm sure every woman feels their husband is the best, but I truly look up to Rick for a multitude of reasons. He is by far the smartest, most level headed, GIVING, man I know. I have never seen a man so patient and full of grace. His birthday is always a day I thank God for placing him in my life and his mom and dad for raising him to be the God honoring husband and father that he is. WE LOVE YOU RICK!
